Dat was dus de reden voor het cancellen van de concerten.

SUPER GOED NIEUWS   hello2 hello2 Aye Aye Aye

Uit de Daily record;

Runrig guitarist Malcolm Jones back with band after heart op
May 14 2009 By Rick Fulton

RUNRIG guitarist Malcolm Jones is back rehearsing with the band after he fell seriously ill in March.

The 50-year-old rocker has undergone a heart operation in hospital and is now back with the group.

He collapsed at Waverley railway station in Edinburgh as he returned to his home in Fife after playing a gig with fellow band member Iain Bayne at the Black Isle near Inverness.

Runrig cancelled their tour of Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

But yesterday they said that Malcolm was looking forward to an eight-day tour of Denmark which kicks off on Tuesday.

The band are also playing a huge gig at Scone Palace in Perthshire on August 29.

Last night, Inverness-born Malcolm said: "I want to thank all our fans at home and abroad for all their goodwill messages."

A statement added: "Malcolm has successfully undergone a short heartrelated procedure in hospital after the problem was identified.

"It is not expected to cause him further concern."

Malcolm, who has been with Runrig since 1978 and also plays pipes and accordion, was in hospital for a couple of weeks before taking over a month off from band commitments to convalesce.

Runrig added: "It's great news that Malcolm is back in the fold and will be well received by all the many hundreds of Runrig fans at home and abroad who have been contacting the band's office for the latest news on his situation.

"Ten thousand fans have already bought tickets for the outdoor concert at Scone Palace, which is the band's contribution to the Year of Homecoming celebrations.

"Given how many festival have gone under this year, including Connect and most recently Outsider, it shows the long-lasting affection Runrig are held in."

En dit berichtje van Malcolm zelf;

After my recent unfortunate bout of ill-health, I am happy to report that I’m very much on the mend, feeling the better for having subjected myself to an uncharacteristic regime of ‘not doing very much’ which I would highly recommend to everyone.

I’d like to thank all the fans who sent messages of good wishes, whether online or hand- written – I really appreciate you taking the time to do so.

I’m looking forward to resuming normal touring duties starting this May in Denmark and of course to our ‘Year of Homecoming’ concert at Scone Palace, Perth on 29th August.

Hopefully, I’ll get a chance to speak to some of you ‘on the road’ in the coming months.

Malcolm
