http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/scotland/north_east/6276312.stmDue to industrial action services by Orkney Ferries Ltd are likely to be affected during July.
The Company has been informed by the RMT Trade Union that a work to rule would be effective from 0001 hours on Friday July 6 until further notice.
Additionally to the overtime ban, it is suggested there will be two periods of strike action, the first to commence at 1200 hours Monday, July 9, and continue until 1159 hours on Friday, July 13. The second period of strike action would commence at 1200 hours on Thursday, July 26, and continue until 1159 hours on Monday, July 30.
During the periods of strike, it is unlikely that Orkney Ferries will be in a position to provide any services to Westray, North Ronaldsay, Eday, Sanday and Stronsay. The link between Westray and Papa Westray should be unaffected by the proposed action. All other services to the Inner North Isles and South Isles should also be unaffected.
Orkney Ferries has attempted to avoid the proposed industrial action through negotiation with the RMT. The Company is committed to providing a first class service and will be investigating contingency measurers during the periods of industrial action, but cannot guarantee any services to the Outer North Isles.
For further information, please contact Orkney Ferries on 01856 872044, or a 24 hour answer line on 0800 011 3648 from Saturday, July 7. Orkney Ferries apologises for the undoubted inconvenience that this action will have on the travelling public.
